The decade long franchise The Walking Dead based on the book by Robert Kirkman is coming to an end
after 11 seasons. On September 9, the Walking Dead team publicized about the show’s end on Twitter.
The 11th season will consist of 24 episodes that will be aired over two years starting in 2021. But this
not the end of the survivors’ story.
The new show, a new phase
Fan favorites Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride will be featuring in a new spinoff series built around
their characters. Current ‘Walking Dead’ showrunner Angela Kang will also serve as showrunner for the
Daryl and Carol series which is slated to debut in 2023.
But that’s not all… AMC Chief Content Officer Scott Gimple is developing another spinoff,
an episodic anthology series, “Tales of The Walking Dead”. The show would be featuring new one-off
episodes with new and existing characters within the “The Walking Dead” universe.
In addition to The Walking Dead, AMC also has the companion series “Fear the Walking Dead”, which is
set to begin airing its sixth season on October 11th.
The new spin-off “The Walking Dead: World Beyond” will premiere on October 4th, 2020. The grand
finale of season 10 will air on the same day. The new series is about the first generation to come of age
during the zombie apocalypse. AMC would be continuing with the aftershow “Talking Dead” hosted by
what’s more to come?
Six more episodes of season 10 will premiere at the beginning of 2021. The fans have been devastated
after hearing the news, but also excited for the new spin-offs and the last expanded season of the show.
It’s the end of an era after 10 years.
AMC and Universal Pictures have also publicized that they are working on a series of feature films
centered on the character of Rick Grimes starring Andrew Lincoln. The season 10 finale is said to be a
grand finale that will lead to new premieres. This end is the beginning of a new phase in the Walking
Reedus expressed her feelings for the show via AMC about how the show has changed her life.
After all the gratification and positive reviews over the years for the Walking Dead, Scott Gimple decided
to continue with the universe of walking dead by creating new spin-offs for the next decade to come.
With the best casting and production team, Gimple would be bringing new stories to the series’ fans.
The production for the next season will start in October. The season is extended to 12 extra episodes.
The next season is a big mystery for the viewers as there are no clues or details revealed. The last season
would end the 10-year long suspense for the fans.
Season 11 of AMC’s flagship show was originally meant to air this year but was delayed due to the
pandemic. The final season will air over two years and consist of 24 episodes beginning in late 2021.
