After many delays, an update on the filming for the ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ series has been revealed by the
lead actor in an interview as of September 12. The filming for the series will begin in the spring of next
year. Ewan McGregor will be back on our screens playing the role of Obi-Wan after 15 years. The series
will be airing on Disney Plus after the production is finished.
This series will be focusing on the time after the ‘Episode III: Revenge of the Sith’ and before ‘Episode IV:
A New Hope’ when Obi-Wan after defeated Anakin Skywalker and was supposed to look after Luke
Skywalker. It will also show how Obi-Wan avenged his Master Qui-Gon Jinn by defeating Darth Maul.

Obi-Wan’s character is recognized as one of the key roles in the Star Wars Universe. He is the one who
trained Anakin Skywalker (later turned in the Dark Side, and was referred to as Darth Vader). He is the
character who trains Luke Skywalker (Anakin’s son) to defeat the Dark Side. Throughout the Star Wars,
Obi-Wan has been referred to as the middle-man. This series will bring a very important part of Obi-
Wan’s life as it showcases him over the years in hiding and protecting Luke to be the next Jedi Master.
This Disney Plus series was announced in August 2019, the teaser was released in October 2019 showing
a greater part of the series. In January 2020, the writer of the series Hossein Amini was dismissed from
his part. This created a pause in the filming of the movie. The director Deborah Chow broke the news to
the fans that the production will resume from January 2021 due to a change in the creative team along
with the pandemic.
In April 2020, Joby Harold was appointed to take over the scripting for the show.
The Obi-Wan Kenobi will be a standalone season as heard from Ewan on an interview by Entertainment
Tonight on September 12th. There has been no news or hints from the crew members for a second
season. Due to the pandemic and the shift of writers, the show has already been delayed by one year
and hence, it won’t be shooting a second season.
Ewan McGregor back in the star wars universe
Ewan McGregor has previously acted as Obi-Wan in the first three episodes- The Phantom Menace
(1999), Attack of the Clones (2002), and Revenge of the Sith (2005) of the Star Wars Universe. The OBE

During the years when the first three episodes were released, it was tough to capture a scene from
different angles because of the wiring each camera had. Ewan McGregor is very excited to act for this
role at present as the full action scenes could be captured without facing any problems.
The director and other crew members are currently busy with the filming of The Mandalorian Season 2
which is set to release on October 30th, 2020. The set for both the series is known to be the same.
