ratched is a cold-blooded nurse
Ratched is referred to as an uncaring nurse. She treats the patients at the hospital in an utmost
disciplined way. She tortures her patients if they don’t follow the orders given to them. Mildred is a

Mildred Ratched is a character who has had a dark and independent past. She was taken away from her
parents when she was just a child. She was sent to a foster family with the hope that she’ll get to meet
her biological parents in the future. No one in her story appears to have mercy or pity on her. All these
factors combine to make the villainous role of Ratched.
She’s been a part of the war where she saved a lot of lives. She applies her own experience everywhere
so that she could help make her patients stronger and more disciplined.
Ryan Murphy has brought the truth about the various treatment practices of mental health patients
from the past to our screens. Ratched is an example of how a nurse acts and is portrayed with the
patients in a mental asylum.
difference between the film and the series
The difference that is noticeable between the 1975 movie and this series is the wickedness of Ratched.
As exhibited in the novel and seen in the movie, Ratched is a cold-blooded nurse who embarrasses the
patients and makes them uncomfortable all the time. In Murphy’s series, Ratched is portrayed as evil
but not that of a strong woman who gets the work completed in her made-up ways.
The series was announced by Netflix in 2017 after a bidding war between Apple and Hulu. The scripting
was then received by Ryan Murphy. Murphy spent 3 months to fully understand the character of
Ratched and then took action to bring the character to real-life by Sarah Paulsen.
The trailer was released last month on August 4th and since then, all Murphy fans and Sarah fans have
been hyped for the series to release.
