Netflix will be releasing another comedy horror film as a part of its ‘Netflix and chills’ lineup for
Halloween 2020. ‘Vampires vs. the Bronx’ directed and co-written by Osmany Rodriguez will be releasing
on 2nd October 2020 only on Netflix.
Rodriguez takes us through a story of a teen gang like that represented in ‘Stranger Things’ on how they
fight against the vampires that have attacked their city. The band takes on the invaders with their
extremely unconventional techniques to protect their neighborhood Bronx.
a personal connection with the story
The story is rather personal with the director as he talks about how after spending his childhood in The
Dominican Republic and then moving to New York City to achieve greater goals has been an interesting
journey. He expresses his feeling about the various adventures and mysterious things the Bronx kids are
involved in. Vampires vs. the Bronx is a creative version of the story behind Rodriguez’s vision.
The filming of the movie has been a very tough job for the production team because of the large
number of cast members. A lot of actors are also making their debut with this film.
The selection of cast members of the ‘Vampires vs. the Bronx’ has been a very fascinating task for the
director as he wanted as many American actors who will relate to the roles they are playing. Having
some actors from the director’s homeland Dominican Republic like Jaden Michael, Kid Mero, Vladamir
Caamano, and Judy Marte, as well as actress Zoe Saldana, are also seen making a brief cameo in the
many Dominican actors doing their debut
Luis (played by Gregory Diaz IV), Bobby (played by Gerald W. Jones), and Miguel (played by Jaden) form
the trio of vampire killers. Luis is the nerd member of the group with a great level of knowledge about
vampires which makes him an important member of the crew. Bobby is just another regular kid from the
Bronx, for whom the vampires’ invading is a very scary part that he doesn’t want to experience and
wants to stop it.
The band is led by the ‘Wonderstruck’ actor Jaden playing Miguel. Miguel might not know much about
the vampires or how to defeat them but his ambition for saving the Bronx from vampires is very strong.
This strong ambition to win makes him do all the possible and the correct things for their survival.
no trailer released yet
The trailer of the movie is not yet released. The story and some instances from the movie are the only
few things that have been revealed out to the fans. The action of a teen band against vampires has got
many American kids eager and excited for this movie to release.
In August 2018, it was announced by Broadway Video and Caviar that they will be starting the
production of Vampires vs. the Bronx with the story writers Osmany Rodriguez and Blaise Hemingway.
Due to the pandemic delays the exact release date has not been announced. Earlier in September 2020,
Netflix claimed the distribution rights for the film, and the date of release was expected to be in the first
week of October.
