The American crime television shows have been entertaining us for quite some time now. There are rumors about the release of season four of the psychological crime thriller ‘Mr. Mercedes’. The show is adapted from the novel trilogy on detective Bill Hodges written by Stephen King. The first three seasons have got many positive reviews.
MURDER OF 16 WORKERS
Season one and two of Mr. Mercedes is adapted from the first case of detective Bill Hodges involving a murder of 16 people with running Mercedes. Detective Bill (played by Brendan Gleeson) is a retired agent in his 60s. After thinking that everything is over and beyond the detective life, Bill is haunted by the unsolved Mercedes case.
The case was serious but was closed after 2 months of investigation due to a lack of evidence. Giving up on the case, Bill was at the end of his career as he was fed up with his life being lonely. Brady Hartsfield (played by Harry Treadaway) is an intelligent young psychopath that knows about modern technology more than anyone.
Brady haunts Bill by confessing that he was the one to steal the Mercedes and kill the innocent workers. He calls himself by the name Mr. Mercedes. Throughout season 1, he plays with Bill’s mind and harms him mentally. Being hopeful for solving the case, Bill listens to Brady and chooses to do whatever he tells him to do.
It begins as what-appear-to-be an online cat-and-mouse game. The first season ended with Brady on the ground, but the second season was somewhat a sequel to the Mr. Mercedes case. After being settled with the first segment of the case in the starting two seasons, the show was renewed for a third season in 2019. The third season was another segment of Mr. Mercedes’s case, with Bill still working as the detective.
BRENDON GLEESON AT THE BEST
Brendan Gleeson was nominated for the Satellite Awards in different categories for his outstanding acting in the series. He won the award after his appearance in season two. Alongside Gleeson and Harry, Holland Taylor (plays Ida Silver), Justine Lupe (plays Holly Gibney), Jharrel Jerome (plays Jerome Robinson), and Breeda Wool (plays Lou Linklatter) will be coming back for season 4 of Mr. Mercedes.
The series was created by David E. Kelly under Temple Hill Productions and Sonar Entertainment. The pilot episode premiered on August 9th, 2017, by Jack Bender. It is broadcast on AT&T digital platform ‘Audience.’
With the success and the approval rating, the first three seasons have earned should be enough for the production team to renew the series with another season. So far, there are no updates on whether a new season will be there or not, but all the other seasons are available to watch on Peacock.
