Fashion & Beauty Blogging is one of the most common forms of blogging. Nowadays, many people (mainly women) write about this subject, either alone or separately. Still, with YouTube videos and video content, most of them went there; they left second-place blogging and chose content to be their first preference for talking about what items they use, and so on.
For all these blogs and influencers, you need to note that you need to distinguish yourself. There are many products and labels out there that are actively searching for someone to endorse and recommend. The number of possible bloggers and influencers is high enough. This contributes to the clarification of the “differentiate yourself” argument.
Choosing an audience for your Blog
When it comes to blogging, you have a few niche categories that you can search to help you reach your audience:
A public age demographic (adolescents, young seniors, adults, elderly, millennials);
The socio-economic condition of the viewer (fathers, single mothers, entrepreneurs);
Industry (marketing, writing, health, and manufacturing);
Items (gadgets, chairs, clothing, books);
Resources (blogging, web creation, freelance, coaching) (source)
The bold ones are the niche types that I’d recommend searching for fashion and beauty blogging.
This style of blogging means that you’re mainly going to talk about products. Today, “Products” may refer to beauty products, cosmetics, apparel. Both of these have several topics that you can address:
- Beauty and dress advice;
- Types in fashion;
A full fashion and beauty blog will feature posts on any of these topics. Why? Why? Since fashion and beauty is a huge issue, you’re going to be able to write about all this stuff, and don’t be scared you’re going to run out of posts.
All of these three types of items may group themselves. Decide whether or not you want to talk about:
- luxury products;
- average price products;
- low price products;
- or to combine these three categories.
Either way, if you’re trying to talk about the things you’re buying, you’ll find right at the beginning you’re going to get a mix of the types you’re using. Don’t sweat this after a bit; you’re going to get more precise. Even there’s always a risk that a low-priced commodity will be as successful as an average product, so feel free to blog about it as long as you like it because you know it’s an excellent commodity.
In terms of audiences, you can categorize it in these ways:
- Social situation
To pick the best audience, think about what goods you want to present. As I said above, it’s easier to write about the things you’re using; thus, your audience will be women if you’re a woman. If you’re a male, your audience will be men.
Here’s a tip you should play with – your boyfriend(husband)/girlfriend(wife) can help you test your goods and let you know about their experiences. In this way, the crowd will be slightly bigger, not to mention a bit atypic as there are many fashion and beauty sites for women only. There’s not a lot of male blogs blogging about fashion and makeup; let’s not cheat. But that doesn’t mean that any men are not hunting for goods to use.
So if you’re a guy writing about men’s apparel and beauty products, well done! Ask one of your girlfriend/mother/wife/friends to help you with women’s items if you wish to add them to your Blog.
If you’re a woman writing about fashion and makeup, ask your boyfriend/father/husband/friend to tell you about the things they’re using.
The next move is to select the age of the audience. You will choose from teens, young seniors, adults, and the elderly. Again, since it’s best to write about your thoughts, aim to reach your age audience. There might be a case where you recall the substance you used when you were younger. This may be a perfect blog post, as it not only diversifies your Blog, but you’ll still be able to support, let’s say, teenage girls.
Concerning the social situation, fashion and beauty blogging applies to almost everyone. If you’re a single mother/father, then try to get to your friends. Write on what goods you use in your day-to-day life and how they benefit you. Fashion and beauty may not be the first think of a single mother or father, but you can strive to write about your perspective. What went on your face, what clothes are right for your body, how do you dress easily but still look good.
In case you’re a businessman/woman, write posts that will touch this kind of crowd. It’s represented by people who live a fast forward life, drive a lot, and have a packed schedule. Dream on how you cope with this social situation, fashion, and appearance, and send tips to those you want.
The same goes for every social situation that you can think of.
Again, I want to note that the trick to writing a successful fashion and makeup blog is to write about your own experiences. Think about it this as if you’re a stay-at-home wife, and you’re blogging about career women’s items and advice, it won’t be 100% OK.
