2021, while expected to be a lot better than its predecessor, the horrible 2020, saw a virtual red carpet take place for the 78th Golden Globes Award Ceremony. It is difficult to look back at last year’s Golden Globes and see how the world’s favorite stars came together, sans masks and social distancing rules in place. But post the Golden Globes 2020, all award functions have been held this way, and the world has already braced itself for the coming year.
However, celebrities took it upon themselves to make this year’s red carpet more than how everyone ever saw it – virtual. Even though a proper red carpet could not be held for the awards, we witnessed some truly breath-taking fashion moments.
The celebrities took upon a somewhat common theme, “Old Hollywood,” and many stars were seen rocking looks that instantly reminded one of the great, glamorous old times in Hollywood’s history. While nothing post-pandemic has been the same, Golden Globes still gave us an array of ball gowns to openly dream about!
Of a very impeccably dressed crowd, the following is a list that features all of the most bedazzling looks from The Golden Globes 2021 Virtual Red Carpet:
1. Anya Taylor-Joy looks like a True Queen
Decked in: Custom Dior Couture, Tiffany & Company Jewellery
Anna Taylor-Joy walked the Queen’s Gambit in this stunning emerald green dress that sits in heavy contrast with her pale, platinum blonde hair. The plunging neckline and coordinating emerald green overcoat give her the regality of a true queen. We’d definitely bow to her!
2. Elle Fanning is a Sight To Behold!
Decked in: Gucci, Fred Leighton Jewellery
Elle Fanning’s Instagram followers wore their hearts on their sleeves when they saw her wearing a mint green slip dress with fancy crystal brooches, her photos full of dramatic poses everyone loved. If there is anything fans love more than pastel colors and Elle Fanning, it’s Elle Fanning in a pastel gown.
3. We Can’t Stop Admiring Amanda Seyfried
Decked in: Oscar De La Renta, Forevermark Jewellery
Amanda Seyfried has gotten both her hair and her outfit right in this exquisitely feminine silk sorbet gown. This tulip-hued off-shoulder gown is embroidered with Taffeta pressed flowers, and we can’t get enough of this refreshing look coupled with mermaid’s hair.
4. Lily Collins Takes Us Back to the 70s and How!
Decked in: Saint Laurent
Lily Collins pays homage to the glamorous 70s with a one-shouldered gown with a side cut-out. The embroidery on the gown is fresh, and the hair adds the drama that couples amazingly with the dress. We love it!
5. Julia Garner Nails Simplicity in this Prada outfit
Decked in: Prada
Dressed in a dress with a low-plunging neckline and a drop waist, Julia Garner sure as hell is shouting out to the roaring 20s. The intricate beading on the dress, the Prada cuffs, and the Old Hollywood hairdo makes it challenging not to be transported right back in time. The shade of the lipstick sits boldly with the tones of her otherwise neutral outfit.
6. Andra Day is Serving Looks in her Chanel gown
Decked in: Chanel
The Best Actress winner for “The United States vs. Billie Holiday” turned many (virtual) heads in the long grey silk tulle dress from Chanel. The all-embroidered and sequined macrame bodice is just the right look on her. Add to that her all-up hairdo, and you’ve got yourself a stunner!
7. Daisy-Edgar Jones Looks Like A Million Bucks
Decked in: Chanel
The “Normal People” star celebrated her Golden Globe nomination in a beautiful crochet dress from Chanel. The floral crochet on the dress looked great, coupled with the minimal fine jewelry on Daisy Edgar-Jones. Her simple hairdo only added elegance to her complete look. If there’s anything we loved more than her dress, it was her goofy poses. Adorable!
8. Viola Davis Blew Us All Away
Decked in: Custom Lavie by Claude Kameni
Claude Kamenie Lavie by CK marked its debut on the red carpet of the 78th Golden Globes in the vibrant and fun gown donned by Viola Davis. The puff sleeves and patterns nodded back to Old Hollywood in the most enthusiastic manner. Viola represented, through this outfit, an era of diversity and inclusivity in Hollywood and beyond.
9. Emma Corrin makes a Statement in Miu Miu
Decked in: Miu Miu
Emma Corrin carried forward her on-screen alter ego, Princess Diana’s legacy, in this exquisite piece by Miu Miu. Even her looks from the show “The Crown” cannot compete with this extraordinary bow look in a bold-shouldered velvet gown with an organza collar. Royal!
10. Tiffany Haddish Looks Completely Divine
Decked in: Alberta Ferretti
Tiffany Haddish brings back metallic chics in this strapless Alberta Ferretti gown. This brown and silver embellished gown takes us back to the 60s and 70s and makes it really hard to look away, because let’s face it, how great does the gown look on her body?
11. Regina King Bringing the 80s Vibe
Decked in: Louis Vuitton, Forevermark jewelry
This Louis Vuitton sequin gown took 350 hours to be made and includes more than 3000 sequins- damn! This gown emits an 80s futurism fashion vibe we just can’t resist on Regina King.
12. Dan Levy Looks Refreshing in Valentino
Decked in: Valentino
We’re all eyes for the “Schitt’s Creek” star Dan Levy as he effortlessly nails in this Valentino suit. His monochromatic yellow outfit looks splendid, with a high neck sequined undershirt and metallic shoes that have us all swooning.
