One of the major highlights of 2021, especially for Sex and The City fandom, has to be when Sarah Jessica Parker announced the revival of the show And Just Like That it elevated all our moods and gave us all something to look forward to this year. Ever since the announcement, fans have been on their toes contemplating who will make a comeback and who isn’t. Not to worry, we’ll give you the sneak peek you’ve been waiting for.
While three of the four main ladies are on board for the HBO Max series, fan-favorite Kim Catterall won’t return to reprise her ever-so- unprejudiced, proud, and candid role as Samantha Jones(sobs internally!!!). As for the male counterparts, there is one ‘big’ disappointment, Chris North, who played the iconic role of Mr. Big, won’t be reprising his role in the Sex and the City reboot (or would he?). But, but, ladies wait! We have got some information that might cheer you up. The unusually charming Steve Brady, Miranda Hobbes’s husband, played by David Eigenberg, does not seem against the idea of reprising his role.
Eigenberg, in his recent interview with the US Weekly, teased the SATC fans, “I love that show, I think it’s really interesting that they have brought it back,” he said. When asked about his long-term on-screen wife, Cynthia Nixon, he added that it would be a major plus if he decided to reprise his SATC role. “She is a dream to work with,” he gushed.
While the actor is not opposed to playing the role of Steve, he did express his despair about reprising the role without the late actress Anne Meara by his side. Meara, who played Steve’s mom, Mary Brady, died in May 2015. “That’s kind of heartbreaking because she was a dear lady and a dear friend of mine,” he shared. “It’s a sad thing to go back because that character, you know, [the] lineage is gone, and Anne as a human being wouldn’t be there. It’s a strange thing.”
Along with this, offering some hope, he said, “But we’ll see…If it can work out, we may be going down that road.”
Speaking about his current schedule, he said: “The love of my life right now is Chicago Fire, that’s where my heart lies, and we’ll see if it’s something that transpires in the future, but I don’t know.” And maybe Just Like That, there is some hope that his return to the role has not been ruled out yet!
