Every time one of our favorite stars is about to have a child, fans from all over the world start to break their heads over what they would be called. Celebrities have been setting up new trends for baby names since the beginning of time. And this just doesn’t stand for names that are new. Old names that aren’t popular anymore can rise infinitely and become popular once a star uses them.
The list of celebrity baby names is unique, strange, and sometimes even really, really weird. But that’s what makes these names as interesting as their parents’ lives, doesn’t it? After looking at these names, it’s the names’ John’ and ‘Mary’ that will sound weird to you.
Model Amber Rose and her husband, Def Jam Records executive Alexander “AE” Edwards, welcomed a baby boy home. They called him Slash Electric Alexander Edwards, leaving many wondering if the baby boy was named after the Guns’ n’ Roses guitarist. While Rose hasn’t directly confirmed it, she did call Slash “the greatest guitar player/musician of all time” on her Instagram post. Adorable!
The coming years have seen various name trends for babies. From nature to fruit to colors, it’s all been said and done. Physics, however, was almost unexplored before Model Stormi Bree and Lucky Blue Smith decided to name their daughter Gravity. Gravity is known as the force that pulls two entities together, so it fits the adorable family.
Nicholas Cage and Alice Kim, his ex-wife, had decided to call their son Kal-El based on the Superman comics. Kal-El is Superman’s Kryptonian name. Alice wanted to name their son something beautiful and unusual, and Kal-El was a perfect representation of a good, unique and American name.
Yes, we know what you’re thinking, too. But Actor Jason Lee didn’t just choose this name because he wanted his son to fly planes someday. In fact, he was named after a song on the band Grandaddy’s album called The Sophtware Slump. When Jason and his wife heard the song ‘He’s Simple, he’s dumb, he’s the pilot,’ it blew them away. It blew us away, too, haha.
A more badass name has never existed. Literally. Magician Penn Jillette gave his daughter a name nobody would take lightly. His explanation behind the choice is an interesting one. “Moxie is a name that was created by an American for the first national soft drink and then went on to mean chutzpah, and that’s nice,” he told The New York Times, explaining the thought process in naming his daughter.
Obviously, a Kardashian baby had to make the list. While Kim Kardashian and Kanye West chose not one but many strange baby names like Saint, Psalm, and Chicago, they took it to a whole new level when they called their daughter North, which, when combined with West, is a… direction. Not a lot of thought went into that, did it?
