Yes, you heard it right! A Sex and the City reboot is happening, and it’s happening definitely. Sarah Jessica Parker and other stars from the show have confirmed the news on Instagram. The awaited reboot is to air on HBO Max, and fans cannot wait to see if the reboot does justice to their favorite Sex and the City series.

The reboot is to be ten episodes long and is titled And Just Like That… Members of the original cast, like Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis, will be a part of the revival. However, as the reports in the past have said, Kim Cattrall won’t be returning to the reboot as Samantha Jones.

There is still no set release date on the series, but Parker and other stars from the reboot took the internet by storm when they posted a teaser clip of the show back in January. The clip features various scenes from all over New York City and is captioned: “I couldn’t help but wonder… where are they now?”

Davis, who will be returning to the show as Charlotte York, posted on Instagram: “Anything is possible…Meet you there!”

Cynthia Nixon, who plays the role of the iconic Miranda Hobbes in the series, posted, “You, me, New York…anything is possible.”

Cattrall not being a part of the reboot has led fans to believe one thing or another. Some fans even alluded to a tension between Parker and Cattrall. When one fan commented on this rumored tension between two ex-costars, Parker responded, “Samantha isn’t part of this story. But she will always be part of us. No matter where we are or what we do.”

In an interview with TV Line, Casey Bloys, HBO Max chief content officer, tried to explain the reason behind Samantha’s absence in the reboot special. According to him, Samantha’s character moved on with her life, and she grew apart from her old friends. “Just as in real life, people come into your life, people leave,” he explained. “Friendships fade, and new friendships start. So I think it is all very indicative of the real stages, the actual stages of life.”

We wonder if writing off Samantha from the revival script is more than just her character moving on. While fans worldwide will miss Samantha, they still can’t wait for the reboot to air.
