The Handmaid’s Tale Season 4: Release Date & June vs. Aunt Lydia
Guess who’s back and all-ready to lead a revolution? It’s June from The Handmaid’s Tale. The show is an award-winning dystopian drama and has been praised for its commendable plot and acting. The show is finally back with its fourth season. The season was long-awaited by its fans as it had been almost two years since the last episode of season 3 ended in a massive cliffhanger. Elisabeth Moss will return as the lead June (formerly called Offred). Her character will continue to face obstacles while organizing a rebellion against the state of Gilead.
The fourth season will pick up from where the season 3 finale left viewers hanging. Last we saw, June and a squad of Marthas smuggled almost 100 children to safety in Canada. However, June was shot and injured in the process. According to Hulu’s official season 4 synopsis, “June’s quest for justice and revenge threatens to consume her and destroy her most cherished relationships.” June is now the most wanted fugitive in all of Gilead, and we will see her pit against Ann Dowd’s character Aunt Lydia.
When asked about the ongoing angle of June vs. Aunt Lydia, series creator Bruce Miller referenced the musical Les Miserables to describe the dynamic earlier this year. “We’ve got Lydia in this season in a Javert kind of position where she is just obsessed with June and has so much of her personal worth tied up in what June is doing and how much damage June is wreaking out in the world that she feels responsible for.”
The Handmaid’s Tale Season 4 Release Date
