Looking for a speedy catch up to the High School Musical Series? Not to worry! The High School Musical Marathon is here to the rescue, on April 22 it was announced that Disney Channel will be airing a one-night special marathon of HSM:TM:TS, which will take place on Saturday, May 8. Wait, wait, wait that’s not all, the marathon will also feature sneak peeks into this new season, as well as behind-the-scenes extras.
About a week before the Season 2 premiere, giving us ample time to be thorough with the series, its logos, songs and even sew up our own fan theories about our favourite couples before we return to East High School on May 14. However, one thing to keep in mind is that Unlike with this marathon, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series Season 2 will only be available on Disney+.
The one-night long marathon also gives us a sneak peek into season 2, and I guess that’s more excitement than what the fans can handle.
High School Musical: The Musical: The Series’ season 1 dropped on November 8, 2019, on Disney+ and wrapped up on January 10, 2020. The first season comprises ten episodes with a running time of 26-34 minutes each. The filming of season 2 commenced in February 2020, Joshua Bassett revealed that it had to be paused due to Covid-19-imposed restrictions, but it’s finally here and we can’t wait anymore. Season 2 is going to consist of 12 episodes
Season 2 will likely pick up right where season 1 left off and, as Miss Jenn teased, the students will find out that the spring musical is Beauty and the Beast and we will witness a lot of auditioning and rehearsing in this regard. We will also find out if Nini accepts her offer, if she tells Ricky and how that affects their relationship in the long run.
Elsewhere, we imagine that Kourtney will actually audition for the musical now that we know how great her singing voice is. We’ll also see Big Red and Ashlyn’s relationship unfold now that they’ve kissed, and more of Carlos and Seb. Plus, we can’t wait to find out what’s next for E.J. and Gina. Whether or not we’ll see more spark fly between Ricky and Gina, Tim Federle told ET: “I know we’ve got some Rina stans out there, and I’m hoping this show has five or seven seasons so we’ll see where they all end up.” He also said we’ll see more of Miss Jenn’s “romantic situation”.
