It’s about time we start talking about the psychological thriller You. The series had been scheduled for a new season and has now wrapped up its filming for season 3. If you’re a fan, read the entire article to find out some interesting facts and gossip about the new season, which is expected to release in the second half of the year.
You is a psychological thriller series based on the 2014 novel by Catherine Kepnes, released initially on Lifetime network in 2018 and later shifted to Netflix as its original series. The show’s season 1 revolves around the life of Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley), an intelligent book store manager in New York who meets an aspiring author, and things kick off smoothly, until…it takes a complete 180-degree turn, as his obsession starts turning violent. Moving on to season 2, the foundation of which is based on the novel Hidden Bodies by the same author. Joe moves from New York to L.A, changing his name and identity, again falling for a woman named Love Quin and displaying the same patterns of obsession and desperately trying to make things work until he finds out the Love Quinn is basically his female version. The show ended on a very gasping note, leaving us wanting more, wanting to know more about his mysterious new neighbor, to be specific.
All the signs and plots of the season 2 finale point towards the revelation of joe’s new neighbor as one of the major themes for season 3, and definitely where Joe and Love’s relationship is going to take off to will also be witnessed, as the couple is shown to be expecting a baby in the final episode. Stories flying around say that Vampire Dairies star Michaela McManus will be playing the role of the new neighbor “Natalie,” a high society woman married to a very powerful man (that’s a secret). Natalie is a highly successful woman with an exemplary professional and social life. We all know Joe being the freak that he is, is definitely going to find ways to crawl into her life as well. Netflix also talked about other new additions to the cast, such as Shalita Grant and Travis Van Winkle playing the role of a shady couple. Another new face, according to Deadline, would be Scott Speedman, who will play the role of a successful, yet mysterious CEO and husband who is challenging to be with, masking a deep well of emotions beneath.
Joe’s childhood and Love’s journey with Joe as he has fixated his gaze on a new female counterpart will also be some of the major themes for season 3.
The show has been under scrutiny for its dark and twisted subject matter; however, the show’s creator, Gamble, has managed to navigate past it, giving the viewers a compelling and obsessive show!
