Gal Gadot has decided to reteam with Wonder Woman producers Charles Roven and Richard Suckle for a romance movie with a science-fiction zing.
Meet Me in Another Life is based on the debut novel of the same name by Glasgow-born author Catriona Silvey. The plot follows Thora and Santi, two strangers who meet by chance in a foreign city. However, despite a tragic accident, the two kindred spirits meet repeatedly in different versions of reality. In these realities, they could be friends, colleagues, lovers, or enemies. Eventually, they come to a shocking revelation and decide to discover the truth of their mysterious attachment before their many lives can come to a final end.
In the United States, the novel was published on April 27, 2021, via William Morrow, a HarperCollins division. The sci-fi romance book will be hitting shelves in the UK from HarperVoyager starting July 8.
Roven and Suckle will be producing the book adaptation for Atlas Entertainment, along with Gadot and Jaron Varsano producing it for Pilot Wave. Curt Kanemoto will be overseeing the project for Atlas Entertainment.
Gadot, 35, was last seen on screen when she reprised her role of Wonder Woman in the sequel Wonder Woman 1984 and Zack Snyder’s The Justice League. Death on the Nile and Netflix thriller Red Notice are some of her upcoming titles.
The novel’s storyline is described as a thrilling and imaginative exploration into the many iterations of love and how choice can change everything. The broad strokes of the plot follow a man and woman who continue to meet in multiple different versions of reality, a genre that has never really been explored before.
The high concept of Meet Me in Another Life sounds like a never-seen-before spin on both sci-fi and romance genres. It’ll also provide Gadot a chance further to showcase her acting skills in a challenging role. The actress may be one of the most famous and rich stars in Hollywood, but most of her work has been special effects-driven blockbusters and superhero movies, so this new step will be exciting and refreshing to see. Fans will be watching out for how she delivers in a character-driven role that is deeply thought out.
There’s still no update on what studio Meet Me in Another Life will call its home. However, because Atlas’ Charles Roven and Gadot both have strong ties to Warner Bros., it is one of the more likely potential studios to get involved with the project. It could be a long time before the literary adaptation goes into production, given how busy Gal Gadot has been keeping lately.
Gadot has Netflix’s action blockbuster Red Notice opposite Dwayne Johnson and Ryan Reynolds releasing later this year in the bag. Netflix also acquired the rights to her espionage thriller Heart of Stone recently, which is being discussed as a potential franchise starter.
Meet Me in Another Life is uncharted territory for Gadot as both an actor and co-producer. While her dramatic talent may keep her a busy bee, the plot definitely makes it one of the more exciting and novel efforts she’s got going on.
