The Kominsky Method will be back for its third and final season soon. In the comedy-drama, Michael Douglas has been seen in his first series regular role since he was on The Streets of San Francisco in the 1970s. He plays Sandy Kominsky, a Hollywood resident who may have had brief success as an actor but more popularly an acting teacher. The show was created by successful producer Chuck Lorre, known for Two and a Half Men and The Big Bang Theory. However, The Kominsky Method is different. It has more drama than Lorre’s other sitcoms. It is rare for TV to showcase people in their later years.
The first season of the show won the Golden Globe for Outstanding Comedy Series, with Douglas also winning Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. Douglas has been nominated for the Lead Actor in a Comedy Series Emmy twice. So has Alan Arkin in the Supporting Actor category for his performance on the show. The show was also nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series in 2020 after its second season.
The Kominsky Method’s Season 3 Release Date
The six-episode final season of The Kominsky Method will release on Netflix on May 28. The last two seasons consisted of eight episodes each.
“The Kominsky Method has been a true passion project for me, and it’s been an incredible experience to see the warm response from both audiences and critics,” Chuck Lorre said while announcing the final season. “I’m excited to wrap up the story with this final chapter.”
The Kominsky Method’s Season 3 Cast
We won’t be seeing Alan Arkin returning as Norman Newlander in the final season. Norman might have been written out of the show, but his absence will be felt. Nancy Travis, who played Lisa in the last two seasons, also may not return as she was not in Netflix’s Season 3 cast announcement or Season 3 trailer.
However, the rest of the cast will be returning. We will see Sarah Baker as Mindy, Paul Reiser as Mindy’s much older fiancé Martin, Lisa Edelstein as Phoebe, Graham Rogers, and Emily Osment as Norman’s students Jude and Theresa; and Haley Joel Osment as Phoebe’s son Rodney.
Kathleen Turner will be coming back as Roz Volander, Sandy’s ex-wife, who guest-starred in Season 2. She comes to Los Angeles to help plan Mindy’s wedding and decides to stay for some time. Also, a special reunion for Turner and Douglas, who co-starred 80s hits Romancing the Stone, The War of the Roses, and The Jewel of the Nile.
