Great news for fans of one of the biggest blockbuster shows of all time. Netflix recently announced that the production of the long-awaited fifth and final season of global crime drama thriller Money Heist has officially wrapped up. Netflix shared not just an announcement but also brand new behind-the-scenes photos of the main cast. The photos feature fan favorites Professor, Tokyo, Helsinki, Denver, Rio, Berlin, Stockholm, and Lisbon, who have all been an integral part of the show since the first season. The Spanish series is scheduled to premiere later this year.
After Money Heist became a worldwide phenomenon, Netflix decided to develop a 12-episode long Korean adaptation of the hit series with BH Entertainment and Contents Zium, which is currently in the works. The complete cast has been revealed too, which will include Yoo Ji-Tae as the Professor, Park Hae-Soo as Berlin, and Jun Jung-Seo as Tokyo.
La casa de papel follows the lives of a group of thieves, curated and led by The Professor. In the first season, they put on Salvador Dali masks and red jumpsuits and adopt names of different cities as a pseudonym to conceal their identities. The first two seasons see the gang take hostages and lock themselves in the Royal Mint of Spain as a criminal mastermind manipulates the police to carry out his plan. Seasons 3 and 4 take a different turn as they begin their plan to save Rio and the Professor’s plan begins to unravel. We watch the crew fighting enemies from both inside and outside the Bank of Spain.
In a statement about Season 5, Creator and Executive Producer Alex Pina said, “We’ve spent almost a year thinking about how to break up the band. How to put the Professor on the ropes. How to get into situations that are irreversible for many characters. The result is the fifth part of La Casa de Papel. The war reaches its most extreme and savage levels, but it is also the most epic and exciting season.”
The cast of season 5 remains all our favorites, including Álvaro Morte as The Professor, Úrsula Corberó as Tokyo, Itziar Ituño as Lisbon, Pedro Alonso as Berlin, Miguel Herrán as Rio, Jaime Lorente as Denver, Esther Acebo as Stockholm, Darko Perić as Helsinki, and Paco Tous as Moscow. Fans will also witness Hovik Keuchkerian as Bogota, Rodrigo de la Serna as Martin Berrote, Najwa Nimri as Alicia Sierra, Luka Peros as Marseille, Belen Cuesta as Manila, Fernando Cayo as Colonel Tamayo, and Enrique Arce as Arturo Roman as the powerful secondary characters this final season. When it comes to new stars joining the cast, season 5 will be introducing Sense 8 fame Miguel Ángel Silvestre and Patrick Criado.
