The big day finally arrived. It almost seems like a dream, but after many rounds of pinching ourselves, we’ve realized that it’s true: the F.R.I.E.N.D.S reunion episode aired yesterday, reuniting the iconic cast.
The cast of the classic 90s sitcom FRIENDS reunited for a special FRIENDS reunion episode. The much awaited FRIENDS reunion episode aired on HBO Max yesterday, with Jennifer Aniston, Matt LeBlanc, Lisa Kudrow, Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer, and Matthew Perry revisiting the set of the world famous sitcom 17 years later.
For almost a year, fans have been clamoring for a reunion episode, and HBO has finally delivered. It did not, however, come cheap. During the initial run of the program, the cast was the highest-paid cast on television. As a result, it’s understandable that putting them back together in the face of such high demand would be exorbitant for HBO.
The ensemble cast of FRIENDS was one of the highest-paid actors in television during its original run. The cast will also be receiving a large sum of money for the special FRIENDS reunion episode. According to Variety, Matt LeBlanc, Lisa Kudrow, Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer, Matthew Perry, and Jennifer Aniston will each receive $2.5 million for their roles in the FRIENDS reunion episode. This indicates that each of the show’s cast members would be paid about Rs. 18.15 crores for the episode. According to another claim from The Hollywood Reporter, they might have been paid somewhere between $2.5 million and $3 million apiece for the episode. The amount is nearly double what they were paid during the first run of the show. During the show’s first run, the performers famously renegotiated their contracts, earning a then-record-breaking $1 million each episode. Jennifer Anniston is perhaps one of the most well-paid performers on television.
Along with the six major actors, the Friends Reunion episode, which premiered on Zee 5 at 12.32 p.m. on Thursday, contains several well-known personalities. Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Reese Witherspoon, Malala Yousafzai, James Corden, Cindy Crawford, Mindy Kaling, Kit Harington, and others were some of the personalities on the guest list.
Maggie Wheeler and Tom Selleck, among others, made appearances in the much-anticipated Friends reunion episode. Ben Winston directed Friends Reunion, and he, together with Kevin Bright, Marta Kauffman, and David Crane, executive produced the special episode.
The FRIENDS reunion episode premiered on HBO Max throughout the world yesterday, as well as on ZEE5 in India. FRIENDS was formerly available on Netflix, but is now available on HBO Max. To recapture the streaming rights to FRIENDS on its own platform, WarnerMedia is said to have paid a massive sum of $85 million a year for five years, totaling $425 million. Fans in India, however, can still watch the series on Netflix. FRIENDS has become one of Netflix’s most popular series throughout the years.
Friends, which spanned from 1994 to 2004, is still one of the most famous and beloved tv shows in the world. Whenever the popular series is re-run, it continues to gather millions of viewers. The Friends Reunion has been well received by the show’s fans, who had been looking forward to a nostalgic adventure with their favorite characters.
