After many allegations of emotional and sexual abuse surfaced, Armie Hammer has recently admitted himself to an in-patient treatment home in Florida.
If there’s one actor who’s seen controversies and allegations take over his life completely, it’s Call Me By Your Name fame Armie Hammer. But, according to recent reports, the actor has checked into treatment.
Early morning on Saturday, May 29, Armie Hammer was seen arriving at the Grand Cayman airport. For the first time, he left the island since a woman named Effie accused the actor of rape in a press conference on March 18. The actor has only denied any wrongdoing through his lawyer. According to three sources, Armie was departing the Caymans to check into an in-patient facility for alcohol, sex, and drug issues.
The 34-years old actor was first spotted at the Grand Cayman airport nearly two weeks ago by a fan. The fan witnessed Armie saying goodbye to former wife Elizabeth Chambers and the two children they share.
The fan stated that Elizabeth and his kids dropped him off and walked in as far as allowed. A lot of hugs were also reportedly involved, and the family seemed emotional.
The embattled actor ended up flying to a treatment center outside of Orlando, Florida. He checked in at the facility on May 31 and has been there for over a week.
A source close to Hammer had confirmed that the actor had reached out to estranged wife Chambers by May end, asking for help. He told her that he was ready to seek treatment. The Social Network star also pledged to stay at the Florida facility outside of Orlando until he was healthy.
“Everyone looks at Armie thinking that he’s had some sort of privileged life, and that must mean there were no problems in his youth, and everything was peachy keen. But that’s not necessarily the way things go. Just because you come from an upbringing where financial resources are plentiful doesn’t mean life isn’t without problems,” a source close to Armie Hammer told Vanity Fair in a report that was published on Tuesday.
Hammer’s family friend also confirmed that the actor is fully committed to getting healthy and having custody of his two kids. The close friend of Hammer’s added that he saw this as a clear sign that the actor is taking back control of his life and knows that this is a step towards his overall well-being.
Chambers had filed for divorce from Armie Hammer back in July 2020, several months before news of his cannibalism kink and scandal broke the internet. Since the filing of divorce, Hammer had requested joint custody of their children, Harper and Ford, in October that same year.
Since January, the Rebecca star has been caught up in a sexual assault scandal when several women, including ex-girlfriends Courtney Vucekovich and Paige Lorenze, claimed they had undergone emotional and sexual abuse by the actor.
After that, Effie came forward in a press conference in March and accused the actor of violently raping her. After her press conference, the LAPD confirmed it had launched an investigation into Armie Hammer. Hammer, however, had denied any wrongdoing against the women through his attorney.
“From day one, Mr. Hammer has maintained that all of his interactions with Effie, and for that matter with every other sexual partner of his, have been completely consensual, discussed and agreed upon in advance, and mutually participatory. Effie’s attention-seeking and the ill-advised legal bid will only make it more difficult for real victims of sexual violence to get the justice they deserve,” Hammer had communicated through his attorney at the time.
Real victim or not, the allegations have taken a toll on Armie’s career, which had seen a spike since the indie masterpiece Call Me By Your Name was released. The fallout in Hammer’s career was swift, with the actor being dropped from several projects, including Shotgun Wedding with Jennifer Lopez and eventually his agency, WME.
