Kazuya Mishima, one of Taken’s most overpowered and brutal characters, now joins Smash Bros Ultimate with the universe of Tekken, partnering with the widely popular Nintendo fighting game. The bombshell was dropped at the Nintendo Direct exhibition at E3 2021.
Bandai Namco’s classic masterpiece Tekken had its inception back in 1995, with Kazuya Mishima as its main protagonist. Since then, he has been a permanent element of the franchise and often plays a villainous role.
Kazuya Mishima would be a fascinating expansion to Super Smash Bros Ultimate, not just because he can trigger its Demon Kazuya persona obtaining the ability to fly and other powerful attacks.
Following its launch, The Super Smash Bros Ultimate has featured numerous DLCs, including Piranha Plant, which can be download without any cost by early adopters.
The first actual DLC addition was Joker from Persona 5. Nintendo announced his first DLC during the annual game awards. The Super Smash Bros Ultimate will receive a total of 12 DLC characters altogether, with Joker, Hero, Steve, Banjo-Kazooie, Piranha Plan, Sephiroth, Terry, Byleth, Min-Min, and Mythra/Pyra already revealed. In addition, Masahiro Sakurai has affirmed that the game will not add a third Fighters Pass.
Kazuya Mishima had an awesome trailer where he tosses numerous Nintendo figures into an active volcano. The only character who managed to get away was Kirby, who drifted away.
Mishima accompanies the same ruthless combat techniques from the Taken’s franchise and can tap into his devil Kazuya form in the final smash.
It’s somewhat disheartening to see another one-on-one combat game character after Ken, Terry, and Ryu, as it will be difficult for Kazuya to play in an alternate way not similar to them. The Tekken franchise is packed with compelling characters to pick from, and Mishima feels like an exhausting pick for Super Smash Bros.
Players will be able to download Mishima once it becomes available, the only requirement is the Second Fighter Pass.
